Accomplishments

The Johnny Thompson Singers have appeared with most of the Gospel greats such as Rev. James Cleveland, Evangelist Shirley Caesar, Dorothy Love-Coates, The Mighty Clouds Of Joy, Inez Andrews, Alex Bradford, Marion Williams, Bessie Griffin etc.

In 1955, he founded the Sun light Jubilee Juniors (The Blue Robe Boys) and soon wrote his first gospel song "The Creation".

In 1967, first European Concert tour with the legendary "Stars Of Faith Of Black Nativity"

In 1971, first European concert tour with The Thompson Singers. Over 60 tours until present in over 50 countries around the world.

In 1989 first concert in Africa (Operahouse Cairo, Egypt) and the first gospel group to perform in the Soviet Union and Bulgaria.

Composed numerous gospel hits, i.e. "Stranger On The Road", "Get Up My Brother", "If I Perish", "I'm Happy On My Way", "If You Gonna Pray", "Hold Out", "Hallelujah Is The Highest Praise", "Shake The Devil Off"

First Gospel group (1980) to create a video for worldwide sale.

First Gospel group to perform at Operahouse Zurich/Switzerland (1984)

In 1990 celebrated 25th Anniversary of The Johnny Thompson Singers

Composes countless number of Gospel compositions for many other artist and his own singers

Wrote nine plays such as: "Master I Want To Live" (1965), (Since 1996 with great success every year in Europe), "The Judgement Bar" (1973), "The Capricorn King" (1973), "The Gospelers" (1974), "These are The Books Of The Bible" (1974), "Little Dark Baby" (1978), "Virgil Jones" (1979), "Holiness by Choice" (1992), "Anointed To Sing The Gospel" (1995) and composed the music to the Oscar Johnson's "Little Willie Junior's resurrection" a secular play which toured all over the USA and received several awards in London, England.

Rev. Johnny Thompson has played among others, and sung and recorded for a great number of choirs, groups and soloists. The Stars Of Faith Of Black Nativity, the late Marion Williams, Bessie Griffin, Linda Hopkins, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Dorothy Love-Coates, Dorothy Norwood, The Davis Sisters, The Lorraine Ellison Singers, The Heavenly Dewdrops, The University Of Pennsylvania Gospel Choir, The Pennsylvania F.B.H. District Choir, Sanctification Phase II, The Original Victory Choral Union, The Youth Congress F.B.H. Workshop Choir etc.
